Farmhouse White desk and Junk Bonanza

It's crunch week here at Noble Vintage cottage.

Piles and messes abound.
It's how life looks around here when it's the week before a show.
I had time last week to set up a little photo shoot of an antique secretary that I painted and will be bringing with me to my next market, Junk Bonanza.

This is a huge show- the creator of this market is Ki Nassauer.  If that name rings a bell, it might be because you recognize her from being the editor of Flea Market Style magazine.

Last year I got to go to the Portland venue - I had considered doing it, but I always tell myself to check out a show first before participating- so I just scoped things out to get a feel for it.

I'm so nervous!
There's so many people at this show that I've admired for years- vendors with amazing, over the top displays, so I'm hoping I don't look like Sad Sally with my set up.

I'm super happy that I will be next to one of my friends and fellow Aunt Bee's vendor, Jenny of Dotted Swiss.
It will be fun!

So I spied this cute antique secretary at one of my favorite stops.

It has all kinds of character!
I love this place- it's not really a thrift store, not really a retail space or antique mall; but I have had really good luck buying some great pieces here in the past.
I usually stop in when I'm having a dry spell with furniture at estate sales.

My heart did a little swoon when I saw the bubbled up finish.
I like to call it the crocodile finish.
It just creates such an interesting texture and look once it's painted.

Usually it happens on older pieces that have been in storage where the temperature fluctuates a lot and the varnish goes bad.
But to me, it's beautiful.

I used Miss Mustard Seed's Farmhouse White.
It distressed just beautifully.
The aged brass hardware is gorgeous.

I didn't paint the inside, because it is difficult to get a good looking paint job on the cubbies and honestly, I love the contrast of the white and dark wood.

I staged it with items I will be taking with me (or items similar to what I will be bringing) to give you an idea of what will be there.
French baskets, French keys, pheasant feathers, and vintage books.

I'm not sure if the Union Jack will be coming with me.  I had planned on it, but after a mock set up yesterday, it's not looking like I'll have a spot for it.
I was hesitant about bringing it anyway, because I really love it and have been wanting one for a long time and can't believe I got it.

In addition to some industrial furniture, I will have an eclectic mix of chippy and farmhouse pieces.
I'm super excited.
I will also have a few of these French market bags available.

As always, I hope to share more preview pics, but it may be more on my Instagram account because of time constraints and having a lot to wrap up this week.
(yes! in a few days I will be seeing you at Junk Bonanza!)

Hope to see you there.
I'll be in space 53 near the front entrance!
