Even though I'm starting out 2014 with a couple redo's on furniture that didn't move, I am in love with the results of both so far!
There are some colors that always produce a fabulous end result- Provence from Annie Sloan is one of them.
Every time I use it, I just love the transformation of the piece it goes on.
I wanted to give this dresser a vintage beachy vibe- I have quite a few smaller pieces I can use right now to make a vignette to go with an aqua shade, so that was the goal.
I loved the way that the distressing came out.
I used a little dark wax to bring out those nuances even more.
And I've always loved the hardware on this one!
Do you recognize it?
Here was the before!
I loved the General Finishes paint, and how it chipped when I distressed it.
I also really loved the pink, but it just wasn't moving out the door in that color.
Time for a change.
Yesterday I went out to one of my favorite places to get some smaller pieces. I loved this gold frame, but it had some home made art that I wasn't a fan of. Plus the glass was about to fall out, so I decided to nix both. In the process of doing that, I discovered there were two other beautiful pieces underneath!
This beautiful German marriage certificate from the turn of the century.
The colors and the handwriting are all incredible.
I posted it on my Instagram account last night, and someone suggested that the family might be interested in having some misplaced family history!
I'm not really sure how to track down the family since it is so old and the name is not very unusual…
I also recently found this beautiful German commentary.
Don't you just love the brown leather cover?
Besides getting some great vintage stuff yesterday, I also went to Ikea.
I've been saving for some more items for our home office, so I got a new sitting chair, and an oversize lamp shade for a tripod lamp I'm putting together.
It's a much better fit- literally and visually- than the brown leather chair that was formerly in here.
It was super comfy, but just wrong for the room.
I'd love to maybe find a colorful area rug, but we'll see.
I'm not usually a fan of rug on rug.
Do you see the flag in hanging in the background?
It's a vintage state of Hawaii flag!
I bought it from another vendor at Aunt Bee's House last week, and knew it would be perfect for this room.
I've got lots more going on in here, and I hope to have it all ready soon!
Enjoy your day!
