Little Update: vintage grate

Ahhh...another day of sunshine.
I think this may be a record!  It's amazing what the sun can do to lift your spirits!  Those of you in sunny climates may take regular doses of it for granted, but if you've lived in the NW, you appreciate each one you get!!

I've been working on so many furniture projects recently, I haven't really shown you many updates on our house.  Nothing major, just little bits here and there.  So I thought I would dedicate the rest of the week to showing some of those little updates.

Last Wednesday was preview night for the Farmhouse Show.  I took Hannah and my parents to check it out.  I saw the most beautiful vintage wood grate at my friend Aimee's booth.
At least... I think it's a grate?!
I loved the chippy white paint and the gorgeous scrollwork.

So I took it home with me, and here it is:

I'm still tweaking the bookshelf in the family room.  The vintage mirror is fun in here, but it needed another layer.  I love this here now.

 Look at the gorgeous detail:

Love!

I also added in the cement bird from my friend Loie. (aka Lois)
She gave it to me as a gift for our newly updated kitchen.  They just moved to Hawaii a week ago, so I love having it there to remind me of her.
Some people are so lucky.
;)

I don't know if I would ever light the candles in this wooden cheese box
(hello fire hazard)
but I love the look.
Maybe I should just put some flowers in it so it's more legit.

Anyway, here's what it looked like when I first put in the bookcase, minus the new vintage grate.

Love the color of the aqua bookcase, but I'm having second thoughts on it.
Maybe another update in the future....

See you tomorrow!

  3. Your grate is gorgeous. If you hadn't said it was wood, I would have thought it was an iron grate. Love decorating with one-of-a-kind pieces.

  7. That grate or whatever it is, is gorgeous. Perfect in front of the mirror. Really makes the vignette.
