Little Update: living room shutters

Slowly but surely, this living room is coming together.
I feel like I am always saying that!
It's been a little difficult for me to define exactly how I want this space to look and function, and let's be frank: it's not an easy room to decorate either.
One wall to work with, but it's very tall and peaked.
One very large wall of windows.
All open to the downstairs.
Sounds fantastic in writing, but it's been a doozy.

One thing that has been bugging me since things have been progressing is the need for texture. Something flanking the couch on the walls.

Between Pinterest and just getting out all of my tear outs that I've saved over the years, I realized what I needed and wanted was sitting in my garage.

Shutters!
I've used these for shows, and instead of having them take up more floor space in the garage, I painted them and brought them in!

Before painting them, they were a taupe / peachy color.
I propped them up to see if I liked how they looked:
(test run!)

{wow, you can see the difference in what the time of year, time of day, and a new camera makes too!}

One other little update you can see in these photos is the new side table we have in here now.
(the white one wooden one)
It's a better scale to the couch, and offers more room.  It's still sturdy and big enough to accommodate the large birdcage, but  not so out of proportion in height like before.

(this is not the side table though, it's on the other side.)
You can see that the shutters are just propped on the floor.
I am still hoping somewhere down the line to add in a matching Ikea love seat.
I'm done with the rocking chair!

It's coming together. Slowly but surely.

Have a great weekend!
