the accidental furniture makeover

I bought this little side table in January. I liked it's simple lines and the idea of a quick project.
I wish I had a before picture to show you, but it looks like I deleted it off my camera!  :(
It was a dark brown finish, nothing special.

Initially, I decided to paint this in Paris gray, but it was just too plain.

Maybe a stenciled table top?
It went on too heavy in the edges, and looked like a mess.
*sigh...*

I decided to paint the table in a custom mix of Valspar's Crystal Aqua and ASCP Pure White.
I really liked the color and decided it might work. The distressing brought out some great character!

I decided to try and sand down some of the raised stencil edges, and was happy to see a hint of the image coming through!

Waxing it just made everything pop.
I was much happier with my dark wax application for this project!

Bella was getting impatient with me ignoring her during the photo shoot.

*yawn*

This piece makes me think of sandy beaches, fresh squeezed lemonade and easy living....

The cute little table made it's way down to Aunt Bee's this afternoon, along with another fun piece found at the same spot- before and after reveal on that number tomorrow!
