It's not even Halloween yet, but it's Christmas season around here. I have two shows coming up within the next month, and so I am busy making Christmas product right now!
I am having such a blast making these Christmas Greeting sparrows!!
It doesn't matter how old you get- working with glitter makes you feel like a kid again! This is my first time using German glass glitter, and I adore it. Adore it, I tell ya!!
I still have to add ribbon hangers to these, but I will be selling them at both shows.
I also have to order some more glitter, because I've already used it on my first batch of these guys. The ornaments were inspired by something on my Pinterest Christmas board:
I've also been working on these stockings:
Do you know how hard it is to find white velvet??? Seems like it shouldn't be, but I've looked everywhere, including online. Just plain ol' white velvet. Not crushed, not stretchy. Just plain. White. Velvet.
I gave up. This is a nice velvety soft fabric, and it does what I wanted it to (probably easier to work with too).
I added some red velvet ribbon and a vintage rhinestone piece. I got a stash of gorgeous vintage pieces like this at an estate sale this summer. The striped ribbon is from French General, and I love it. So classic.
I have lots more I'm working on for the holidays, but that's all for now.
If you are in the area and interested in attending either show, I have one coming up on October 29 (Saturday) at Salem First Church of the Nazarene. Part of the sale proceeds are going towards a building project there.
The other one is in my sidebar, and it's a whole weekend. The Mission Mill Holiday Heritage Fair.
November 18,19, 20!
Fridays have become my thrifting and errand day. I've been on the hunt for some large pieces of art or salvage for the living room. I went to ReStore, and while I was looking, I went through their lighting section and I found this cute little ceiling lantern. I just love the shape of it.
I know it looks brassy and very 1990's, but I've had my eyes peeled for some good shapes like this one- after I saw a gorgeous lantern / chandelier in a magazine not too long ago. ReStore was having a 30% off lighting sale, so as you can see from the sticker, I did not pay the whopping price of $5.00, I paid $3.50.
It's going to replace the fluorescent light in the laundry room.
Here's the look I want to transform it to:
super cute, right?
The glass will get taken out, and I think a pretty aqua will look great. A pretty hefty savings!! Granted, I'm sure this one is much larger, but I am excited to have a cute light in the laundry room.
That's all for now, I am getting ancy to rearrange the living room. More Christmas projects for the weekend too.
Have a wonderful weekend with whatever your plans are!
