PinkPostcard Blogaversary!

I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast. And when I run, I feel His pleasure. - Eric Liddell, Chariots of Fire

I can't believe it's been a year.  I've learned so much, and grown creatively, as well as spiritually.
Why spiritually?
I prayed on many occasions for God to help me find a way to be creative again- and to connect with other creative people.  I do feel His pleasure as I have started to use, once again, the gifts He has given me.  At times, it has nearly brought me to tears.  I never believed blogging was the outlet I had been searching for!

If you've read my 'About Me' bio, you know that one way I started searching for what I wanted to be when I grow up, was by reading "What Color is Your Parachute".
I feel- especially in the last few months- that I have finally started to narrow down what I want to do.  I have always loved decorating.  I am an artist. Refinishing furniture in artful ways helps me to do both.
Now if I can achieve my third dream of travelling the world, I would have it all!
I'll share a little secret with you...
Someday I'd like to travel the world buying at flea markets and selling them here.

A year ago, I'd considered starting a local "support group" of creative people in my area.  Finding a world of people who have been a support group and inspiration for me has blown my mind.
My blog has gone through so many changes- especially my blog header.  Here's all the different looks it's had in one year!
phase one:  (sorry for the big gap- this shows how technically unsavvy I was -and still am?- that's how it looked on my header!)

Phase 2:

Phase 3:

Phase 4:

And finally, the current one you see today:
My very first post took a few tries before I actually hit the 'publish' button.  I really feel like the birth of this blog was a few days before I committed to hitting that button, but for officialness sake, this is the day.
As much as I love parties, I feel a little more reflective about this milestone.
I've met so many wonderful people along the way, and I appreciate the support and encouragement more than you know.  If I have any regrets, it's that I didn't start doing this sooner.

Some of my most favorite posts over the last year were these (you can click on the link below each photo for more info):

What I've Learned About Blogging- A Newbies Perspective
(this one had the most comments ever!) It was written from the heart, and I think it really connected with a lot of people.

Some were projects, others I liked because I felt like it was the real me coming through in my writing or creativity.

I think the one thing I am most proud of, is the confidence I've gained in this endeavor.  My whole life I've been afraid to take chances.  Especially on me.  With the birth of this business and blog, I've stopped waiting for other people's approval and encouragement. Stopped listening to what other people think are good ideas for a career.  I believed in me!  I knew what I was capable of and didn't wait for someone else to squelch my dreams or give me the pep talk.
I feel like this is just the beginning- that train that is chugging up the mountain side, starting to gain some momentum to really fly.  I'm excited for the future!
Thanks for joining me on this journey!

  1. Congratulations and happy anniversary! I love your idea of putting together a group of creative people. That's why I love blogging-- getting to meet like minded 'home artists' and writers and getting inspired by their ideas.

  13. Hi there, congratulations on your anniversary! You had left a comment on my blog asking where my lava bowl was in my home. I hung it in the front hall by the stairs. I had the perfect nook for it and it just looks beautiful! Thx for stopping by my new blog!
