retail therapy and a feature

Can I just be really honest for a second?  Last week was pretty crummy for the most part.  I promised myself when I started this blog that I was going to keep things positive.  So I won't go into all the details of why it was so crummy, but know that it was.  Despite what my posts may have led you to believe!

On Friday, I got some much needed girlfriend time and some creative outlets so it was really good to talk, laugh and use my brain for fun things.  And on Saturday morning I had an absolute blast taking a friend who is a newbie thrifter, out to some of my favorite spots- let me tell you, she did awesome and found some GREAT items!! It was an all new world to her!
I came home feeling absolutely invigorated!
I did buy a few things as well (even though I shouldn't have)
and was wishing I had some more money to pick up a few more things for my Etsy shop!
Here are some of the fun finds of the weekend- as always I ran into some stuff  that I intended to turn around and sell, and in the end it's just too perfect to let go of.

I found the oversized fork and spoon at Goodwill for $2.99 each.  I thought they were so cute, and planned to put them in my Etsy shop, and then found the "cafeteria" sign, and knew I'd have a hard time not holding onto them for our nook!

You may remember from the sketched out plans for this area, that I had planned to do some kind of art piece over the bench with some floating shelves around it.  I just love the kitschy look.

I also found these adorable wicker shelves while we were out- they were marked 50% off, and it was too good to pass up.  This will be up for sale once I get it rehabbed.  It's in great shape, just living with it for a bit to see whether I paint it or clean it up.

This metal mailbox is another item that will be making it's way to Etsy this week.  I need to weatherproof it, and then it will be good to go.

(you're getting a peek at how awful and disorganized my craft room is!!!  ugh...)
I also like to pick up old cabinet doors for my signs.  It's a great way to upcycle an item that otherwise wouldn't get used, and has a "frame" already built in.
I got a few more of these for some projects- you can see the one on the bottom is nearing completion.  Also heading over to Etsy, hopefully by this evening.
It's one of my favorite phrases- I had it painted on a wall in our last house.
In French it translates, "beautiful life".

Since Christmas has ended, I've been rearranging, adding, subtracting items from around the house.  I always like the fresh take on the new year.

We have a huge new addition to our home that I'm excited to share with you soon!
And in case you're wondering, I haven't stopped the office project- it's just in the wings until we have the budget for a couple bigger ticket items.

I hope you had a great weekend, my apologies for not making the rounds to say hi this last week.
Hopefully I'll be better at it this time!

Thanks so much to Whisperwood Cottage for featuring my rope shelves for our office makeover!!

  9. some of us were discussing recently that we need to stop buying things we personally like so well. It gets hard to turn them around and sell.
Have you senn Cash&Cari on tv? She'd take your wicker shelves, refurbish them and they'd be worth "hundreds of dollars." (She says that every time.)
