white linen pillow & my first Etsy item

I had so much fun this weekend making stuff!  :)

First off, I started with covering one of the pillow forms I had on the living room chairs.
I've had the fabric for a few weeks, but finally got around to using it this weekend.

First I started by measuring the pillow and then cut the fabric.

I have 4 pieces here- two for the pillow cover and two longer skinnier pieces for the ruffle.

I folded the long pieces together lengthwise, and basted the cut edge.

They kinda curled up with the basting, but that's ok- it straightened out fine when it was time to sew it to the fabric.

Then I pinned the ruffle facing inwards to the fabric. I know that may seem backwards, but trust me, it turns right side out when you sew the front and back of the pillow fabric together.

Next, I cut the frayed edge panel that would be just for decorative texture, pulling extra threads as needed.

I pinned it to the front of one side of the pillow fabric and then stitched through, close to the frayed edge.

Next, I turned this panel right side in, pinned the edges, and sewed 3 of the four sides.  I turned it right side out, and put the pillow form in.  Then, I pinned my opening and stitched it shut.

Sorry, I forgot to take pictures of the finishing pieces of the pillow- the frayed flower and the jeweled ribbon.  I was anxious to get this done last night!
Here's a close up of the finished product!

I have a big bin of ribbons that I keep on hand, and fortunately, after playing around with this one a bit, I liked the little loops that formed.

The rhinestone button was from a favorite pair of white flip flops!!! I loved them so much I bought two pair, and when they were too dingy to keep anymore, I cut off these little sparkly's and saved them.
I kept the flower with frayed edges- I'm really loving this look that is so popular.

Besides working on the pillow, I finally finished up my first Etsy item!!!
Yahoo!
This was so fun to make- once I had the initial idea of what I wanted to do, it just seemed like the ideas kept coming as I was creating it, and I am so pleased with how it turned out.

I have two more signs that I am working on- I hope to have at least one more up on Etsy this week!
Speaking of which, my registration got a little messed up- long story, but this will be up for sale
in my shop- fingers crossed- by tonight.  Just waiting on Etsy for now to clear up a couple things.

Anywho- I'll have a link on my blog to my shop, I'm so excited to be doing creative stuff again!

I hope you all had a great weekend!  Happy Monday!
