little Labor day projects

Yesterday was a nice, relaxing day- just the three of us.
I was able to do a couple fun projects and enjoy the last of our summer sunshine.
Oregon clouds and rain are on their way!

My flower box by the front door got a little french flair added to it:

before

and after!

I also worked on the blank wall in our family room.
here's the before:

after!
I moved an old ceiling tin that I got at an architectural salvage yard, to this wall,
painted my thrift store find from a few weeks ago,
and added some dried hydrangeas from my yard...

and I made my little key art this afternoon!
I had a canvas that I wasn't using for anything
(ok, actually I was in an abstract art kind of mood one day, and the painting was horrible,
so I covered it up with this)
I covered it with some leftover unbleached linen
by stretching it around the canvas, and using a staple gun to secure it...

Then I hot glued these bronzed skeleton keys I found at Real Deals.

Speaking of which, the reason I went into Real Deals was for this:

the cute little sailboat for our bedroom!
It was originally a dark green, but I painted it sand color to go with our bedroom colors.

...and tomorrow my little girl starts fourth grade!!

  4. Your new wall display is really nice...fits the room now. You asked where I found the vintage postcards on my blog. I just Google 'free vintage postcards' and a whole bunch of sites will come up with free downloads.
