my spin on it

Have you ever had a place in your home where you needed to fill a spot, but you also needed it to serve a purpose? I had a spot like this next to my dining room. My husband liked the idea of a buffet like we'd seen in the Pottery Barn catalogs, and I needed some additional storage. extra storage for the dining room- we added the shelving.
the top opens up for more serving space- gotta love that!

Since I didn't have enough room in my spot for a wide dresser or large piece of furniture, this piece was the perfect size. I scored this for $40 at a friend's tag sale! I added some Anthropologie glass knobs for an extra bit of color and vintage appeal. The urn was (gasp!) $12 on clearance at Target. I also purchased the lamp from there as well. The framed photo is actually from a paper goods store, it was from their wrapping paper section- vintage postcard images! I found the ceramic bowl at a tag sale and filled it with seashells.

the inspiration photo!
I always keep a file of ideas and tear-outs from magazines. This one was from a Better Homes & Gardens article. Enjoy!
